House Painting Tips - Panduan Mengecat Rumah

You probably want a classy home interior painting without spending too much money and exerting too much work. If that’s the case you can simply refer to the following tips for interior house painting.

If you will be eager to know these tips for interior house painting, you would come to realize that there is more than just rolling your preferred shade of paint color unto your walls.

Knowing these interior house painting tips will not just make your walls beautifully painted, but these will as well give you great and fantastic ideas on how you can make your painting sessions speedy yet looks professionally done.

The following are the tips for painting the interior of the house. And if you will follow them consistently, it is guaranteed that you can save a good deal of time in your painting session.

First, wash your brush. Just before you start painting, wash your brush in the solvent that you are going to use when you are done with your painting. Like for instance, water based latex. Through this, as you clean the brush when you are done it will easier for you to do so.

Second, wrap the roller or the brush. If you don’t plan to clean the roller or the brush after using it, yet you are planning to do the painting again after a few days. It is suggested that you wrap them inside a plastic bag very tightly and place them inside the freezer.

Third, use either lotion or latex gloves. If you want to keep your hands clean while painting, use latex gloves then. These are great especially when you are using a paint that is oil-based.

However, if you have allergies in using latex gloves, you can apply hand lotion as an alternative. If you apply a thick coat of lotion before you paint, cleaning will only be easier for you when you are done.

Fourth, consider the wet edge problem. Whenever you paint always consider the wet edge problem, then stay away from it. Also remember that painting over a dry edge will make overlap marks.

Fifth, don’t get stingy when buying brushes or roller covers. When you use cheap roller covers, this will only create a fuzzy form on your wall. Also, cheap brushes will only create uneven brush marks. Rollers that come in multi-packs sold a one dollar are not advisable to buy. It is more advisable to prefer better manufactured tools. Be practical in a clever way.

Sixth, get the “blue-tape”. This blue-tape is nothing like a masking tape. This is different from the traditional masking tape which comes in a beige color. The good thing about the blue-tape is that it doesn’t peel that easily. Hence, this will keep you away from possible frustrations when doing the actual painting.

Seventh, be careful not to lose the can opener of your paint. These can openers for paint come as small metal keys. Therefore, they are prone to be lost in any moment of carelessness. Preferably, chain it to a little chunk of wood.

Eight, be clever on the process of your painting. Follow this order: start from the ceilings, to the walls, trimmings, down to the cabinets, then to the doors. Just always remember to start it from the top going to the bottom.

So, these are all the practical tips in doing your interior house painting. Simply, follow these interior house painting tips carefully and you will never meet stress in painting.

Inject some colour into your home using a feature wall

Inject some colour into your home using a feature wall.

If you want to inject some colour into your room, but are hesitant about using bold colour throughout, or just want a quick makeover, then a feature wall is your answer.

A feature wall can add impact to a room without having to repaint all the other walls.

Pick out a wall you want to use as an accent wall. Try to choose a wall that is dominant in the room and one that does not have any doors or window in it. Often the wall you see as you walk into a room is the best choice. A wall with a fireplace or interesting angles and lighting on it will work well.

Often a feature wall works well in a neutral scheme room. Use either a specialty finish such as i.d Pearl or i.d Stone or a dark accent colour. Our favourite feature wall colours:

  • i.d Low Sheen Seductress
  • i.d Low Sheen Moulin Pink
  • i.d Low Sheen Matahari
  • i.d Low Sheen Pomp
  • i.d Low Sheen Patriot
  • i.d Low Sheen Dirty Denim
  • i.d Low Sheen Donkey
  • i.d Low Sheen Espresso Syrup
  • i.d Low Sheen Earthenware
  • i.d Pearl Finish Siren
  • i.d Pearl Finish Sea Garden
  • i.d Pearl Finish Cloak
  • i.d Stone Effect Pilgrims Cloak
  • i.d Stone Effect Elder Flower
  • i.d Stone Effect Sultan Red

tips and techniques for a great paint job - panduan mengecat

A room looks wonderful with a fresh coat of paint. But if you have a "Love-Hate" relationship with painting, you'll want to read our tips on getting a great finished product. You might even enjoy the project as much as the finished product!

Start Out Right

  • You'll enjoy the job more if you get everything together at the start. Organize a tool station in the middle of the area you'll be working in. Gather together your paint, brushes, rollers, hammers, screwdrivers, plastic bags, plastic wrap, rags, paint can opener, and drop cloths.

Plan a Day for Prep

  • Don't try to get everything done in one day. Use the day before painting day to gather furniture in the center of the room, patch cracks and holes, put blue painter's tape around doors and windows, and cover wall and ceiling light fixtures (light bulbs removed, of course!) with large plastic bags.

Clear the Decks

  • If you can, clear out all the furniture and accessories. Take everything off the walls. If you can't move everything out, place the furniture and lamps in the middle of the room and cover them with a good drop cloth. Be sure that you tape the cloth around the furniture. Then put a second cover of plastic or old sheet over everything.

Remove All Hardware

  • It may seem easier to paint around door knobs or cabinet hinges, but unless you're a professional, very experienced painter, you're bound to get drips around. So carry around some zip top bags and remove all cabinet knobs and hinges, door knobs, light switch plates and outlet covers, and light fixtures. Place the pieces together in separate bags and clearly mark the contents and location (top left cabinet, bathroom door, etc) you took them from. This is a great time to clean the hardware! Put them back when you're done painting.

Get Yourself Ready

  • No matter how hard you try, you're bound to get drips (or more) of paint on whatever you're wearing. So take off all jewelry. Reserve some old, but comfortable, clothes for your painting jobs. Slip-on shoes are easy to take off if you need to leave the room. You won't have to worry about tracking drops of paint into other rooms. When you paint the ceiling, put a scarf, shower cap, or old baseball hat over your hair and some plastic over your eyeglasses.

Don't Paint Over Problem Walls

  • If your walls have holes or cracks, fix them before you start with the paint. Any home center or paint store has knowledgeable personnel to guide you to the best products for the job. Wide cracks and large holes can be "bridged" with fiberglass tape, spackle will fill small holes and cracks, and texturizing products are available to match your existing wall finish.

living room decorating tips - panduan hiasan ruang tamu

Plan a “zone” for each great room activity: cooking, dining, entertaining, media viewing, conversation, play, and, importantly, unobstructed passageways around and through the room that won’t disturb ongoing activities.

Define functional areas through furniture arrangements, flooring, and carpets -- durable, food and drink-proof surfaces where children eat or friends gather around the cooking center; an area rug to set off comfortable seating; runners to define pathways; a throw rug to pull together a cozy reading nook with high-backed chair and ottoman.

Position seating to take advantage of a focal point -- or several -- television, fireplace, and an appealing window view. Or create your own accent wall with modular components. The entertainment console from Nautica’s Modern Gatherings line is functional and stylish. Multiple components combine the beauty of furniture with custom accommodations for the latest media paraphernalia, storage, and lighted display of your favorite treasures.

Consider the scale of the room when selecting furnishings, balancing the visual weight of pieces with the size and height of the room. Strong, simple fabrics and large pieces of art also anchor a room without adding visual clutter.

Choose furnishings for function as well as beauty. Tables with drawers and shelves add valuable, convenient storage; a versatile ottoman topped with a tray becomes an impromptu cocktail table; one with a lift top can store a winter throw inside. A simple desk doubles for homework as well as entertainment planning and carpool scheduling.

With so much going on in one space, it’s important to tie the room together visually. Select a neutral base cloth for major upholstery, adding one or two accent fabrics on a chair or throw pillows to bring in texture and color. Accessorize with fewer -- rather than more -- well-chosen pieces in scale with the room.

10 simples tips for arranging furniture

Before you go placing couches and tables willy-nilly, check out’s 10 simple tips for arranging furniture, including:

  • Identify the room’s focal point—a fireplace, view, or television, perhaps—then orient the furniture accordingly. Keep in mind the ideal distance between the TV and seating is three times the size of the screen. If you have a 32-inch screen, place seating 96 inches away.
  • Think about the flow of traffic through the room. Allow 30–48 inches of width for major traffic routes, and a minimum of 24 inches for minor ones.
  • Vary the size of furniture pieces throughout the room so your eyes move up and down as you scan the space. Balance a large or tall item by placing another piece of similar scale across the room from it.
